The Edina Chorale 2023-2024 Concert Season
The Edina Chorale is thrilled to announce its 2023-24 concert season beginning with their Fall Concert: “Harvest and Home” (Saturday, Nov. 18th, 7:00 pm & Sunday, Nov. 19th, 4:00 pm). This rare fall concert takes you on a nostalgic journey from the harvest landscape to the homestead. This theme is explored through the works of Copland, Mendelssohn, and Ticheli, as well as other beloved local and national composers such as Kyle Pederson, Abbie Betinis, Tim Takach, and Elaine Hagenberg. Harvest and Home celebrates the bounties of the earth, family, and friends. It is a wonderful family event to start the holiday season!
Holiday Collaboration: “At the Manger” (Saturday, Dec. 2nd, 7:00 pm) with The Apollo Club men’s chorus. This special collaborative holiday concert is presented by The Edina Chorale and The Apollo Club men’s chorus - two long-standing choirs in the Twin Cities metro. The concert features two choral masterworks depicting the narrative of Christ’s birth. The soprano and alto voices of The Edina Chorale will present the beloved “A Ceremony of Carols” with harp by British composer Benjamin Britten. The tenors and basses of both The Apollo Club and The Edina Chorale will present a newly rediscovered work by the distinguished American composer Undine Smith Moore, entitled “Glory to God,” featuring brass and narration. At the Manger will open and close with nearly 130 singers together in song to celebrate the holiday season!
Mid-Winter: “Together We Rise” (Saturday, March 9th, 7:00 pm & Sunday, March 10th, 3:00 pm). Together We Rise features newly composed works around the topics of unity, love, togetherness, equity, and action toward a more just and supportive world. This concert celebrates the joy that comes from caring for and embracing those in our society that are often overlooked. Together We Rise is presented to inspire love, kindness and acceptance for everyone!
Pops Concert: “It Takes Two” (Saturday, June 1st, 7:00 pm & Sunday, June 2nd, 4:00 pm). As is the tradition of the Edina Chorale, their Pops concert, It Takes Two, will focus on famous duets and collaborations as heard in popular music, TV, radio, Broadway, movies, and more. With tunes spanning the last six decades, there is certainly something for everyone in this fun and engaging family concert!
